We've Got A Diem to Carpe
President’s Day Challenge:
My Dearest Adiemtocarpe,
I struggled with which post of yours to choose. I decided to go with this because I know you’ve had an extremely rough first year (please do not feel defeated, you are more successful than you know). I doubt you regularly have negative regard for your students because, well, they are kids. But I’m sure with the kind of year you’ve had, you’ve had your moments with these children. I just want to encourage you to keep giving them clean slates, pushing yourself to find a way to reach them, and giving them high bars to reach for. Also, know that this community holds you in high esteem, and we are here for you.
“You cannot have a positive relationship with someone you have a negative regard for.”

I am keeping this in mind today with my students that have me on wits end. I need to focus on everything that they have to offer, and all of the little things that make them wonderful rather than ALL OF THE THOUSANDS OF THINGS THAT MAKE ME WANT TO THROW THEM OUT THE WINDOW MS. TRUNCHBULL STYLE.

I just try to think about myself and some of my friends at that age. There were days when we were a bit of a handful. I can’t expect them to act like adults because they aren’t adults. (Even if they pretend like they are)
