We've Got A Diem to Carpe

This morning, the girl who stole the iPad was supposed to be returning to school. She didn’t arrive, so I called the VP to double check her return date. The VP came to my room and told me last night, the girl’s baby sister passed away. The baby was born about 2 weeks ago premature, and was only about a pound. Clearly, the stealing was more a cry for attention with the baby’s arrival.  

My heart hurts so bad for her- and so many of my kids. Since August, one dad has been put in jail and two of my kids’ dad was shot and they witnessed it. Previous to this school year, there are countless divorces and custody battles (only one child has both parents together), several fathers in jail, a father die, and a mother die. I ache for these kids of mine.
